Every great business has an origin story. Majestic Outdoor Lighting Design of Austin began in 2009 with a simple but powerful idea: that the homes of Austin, Texas deserve to be seen in their best light — day or night. Founder Joshua G. Crampton built this company from the ground up, driven by a deep appreciation for fine craftsmanship and a belief that outdoor lighting should be treated as an art form, not an afterthought.
How It All Started
Joshua didn’t stumble into landscape lighting by accident. He came to it with a passion for architecture, nature, and the transformative power of light. After working with some of Austin’s finest homes, he noticed something that troubled him: most outdoor lighting systems were being installed with cheap aluminum or composite fixtures that looked acceptable in photos but failed within a few years under Austin’s relentless heat, UV exposure, and humidity.
His response was to do things differently — starting with the fixtures. Every system Majestic installs uses solid brass or solid copper fixtures. Not aluminum. Not composite. Not plastic. Solid brass, the material that craftsmen have used for centuries because it resists corrosion, holds its shape, and develops a beautiful natural patina that only improves with age.
15+ Years of Austin Expertise
Over 15 years, Majestic Outdoor Lighting has illuminated hundreds of Austin-area properties — from the lakeside estates of West Lake Hills to the Hill Country ranches of Bee Cave and Lakeway, to the historic neighborhoods of Tarrytown and Pemberton Heights. Each project has been different. Each design has been custom. And every installation reflects the same uncompromising standards that Joshua established on day one.
That consistency has earned Majestic a reputation among Austin’s most discerning homeowners. When people want outdoor lighting that will look stunning and function flawlessly for 20 to 30 years, they call us.
Our Philosophy: Hand-Trenched, Not Shortcut
One thing that sets Majestic apart from nearly every competitor is our commitment to hand-trenching every wire run. Many companies use trenching machines to speed up the installation process — but those machines can damage irrigation lines, sever tree roots, and leave unsightly scars in your lawn that take months to heal.
We hand-trench every single run. It takes longer. It costs more in labor. But it means your lawn, garden beds, and irrigation system are fully protected — and it means the finished installation looks like it was always meant to be there.
Ready to See What’s Possible?
If you’ve never experienced a professional outdoor lighting consultation, we’d love to show you what’s possible. We’ll come to your property, walk the grounds with you at dusk, and demonstrate sample fixtures so you can see the exact quality and effect before you make any decision. There’s no pressure, no obligation — just a genuine conversation about what your home could look like after dark.
